- Women dress very modestly (shoulders and ankles can't show)
- Men shouldn't look women in the eyes or smile (they take it as flirting)
- Men wear long pants/skirt and collared shirts
- Auto rickshaws are awesome…..squatty potties are not!!
- Beggars are very common in the city, but not so much in villages
- Shoes are taken off before entering a building
- Movie theatres are seen the same way as bars are in America
- Only use your right hand when passing or receiving something.
- 90% of Indians have arranged marriages
- Women wear a charm necklace to show they're married instead of a ring
- Some Christian Indians will wear a ring to show marriage, but most don't wear anything
- Babies aren't named until they are 6 months old
- Injuring a cow with a car will cause you to pay money to those that witnessed it. If you don't pay they could beat you up or call the police, so most will pay off the witnessess to the accident
- Supposed to drive on the left side of the road, but lines are definitely just suggestions!
- Vehicle horns are used to alert walkers, outgoing and oncoming vehicles, and I'm convinced just for fun. They are ALWAYS honking them!!!
- Schools go up to grade class 10, so most graduate high school at 16 years old
- The school year is from June 1st to April 1st.
- Students go to school on Saturdays. They get the 2nd Saturday of each month off for holiday.
- Greetings are done by saying "Namaste" while clasping hands close to your mouth and bowing.
- The Indian head bobble is awesome. (Working on getting a video). It's confusing though because it can mean yes, no, maybe, or any other kind of answer.
