Here is a poem I wrote recently. Something God has been teaching me. Hope you enjoy!

"Taking Note"

By: Tyler Shugart

Listen to those around you, listen…

You’ll find that everyone has their own story

And not every story will be like yours

Some will intrigue you, some will seem boring

Does that mean they aren’t important? No way!

They are just different from yours, and that’s OK

Each person has something to share

Take the time to sit down and show them you care

But why do Christians get so frustrated or confused

When folks can’t see what they call the Light?

They turn to negative town and forget

That non-believers don’t see through the same sight

Man, woman, atheist, gay, straight, senile

Each person has a unique personality style

So find out what makes each individual tick

When talking about Jesus there doesn’t have to be a shtick

Now, some people might not give a flying flip

About what you have to say

That’s when you leave it in the Potter’s hands

You are just the clay

Jesus is the one to sit back and observe

He came not only to preach the good news, but to serve

The Messiah read people like words on a page

Because He saw what was beating behind their ribcage

For certain ones, He performed miraculous healings

And exclaimed, “Your sins are forgiven!”

To others He simply said follow me

Let me guide you to the land of the livin’

You see, it all came down to the Son of God’s approach

Instead of riding first class, The King of Kings chose coach

The first shall be last, and the last shall be first

Were the words He lived by from the time of His birth

So we must lay down our pride

Quit thinking we have it all figured out

Because if we think we are better than others

How can people see what Christ is about?
