7 days…
That’s right, I leave for the world race in 7 days. I have transfered the last of the utilities out of my name, cancelled my cell phone plan, and gotten rid of my baby grand piano. And you know what? I couldn’t be more excited.
From what I have observed of most racers, the time between training camp and launch is spent with family and friends getting in as much fun as possible before leaving everything behind. My experience has been a little different. For me, the race started at training camp. It caused a major shift in how I live my life. I have been in mission mode since. I realized that we don’t need to be overseas to be missionaries. Shoot, we don’t even need to leave our city. There are 1,000s of people in a 10 miles radius of me that are dying to have the gospel shared with them. The last 7 weeks have been life-changing. I don’t want that change, or sense of renewal to stop and I don’t believe it has to. Not a day has gone by where I wasn’t challenged or convicted in some way. I absolutely love it and plan to keep this Holy Spirit train rollin’!
I’ve had many people ask me what I’m going to do when I get back from the race to which I reply, “I don’t even know what I’m doing tomorrow, let alone a year from now.” I will continue to do what I have been doing since training camp: love on people, share the Truth and make disciples. (SPOILERS) I have definitely felt the call to pastorship, so seminary is probably in the cards when I get back.
I know these blogs have been few and far between, I just haven’t felt lead to write much as of late. Hopefully more will come once I’m in the field.
Love you all!
Tyler
