So I’m in Ukraine. Sorry I haven’t posted a blog earlier. We made it. Obviously. I hope to post a blog about what we are doing this month soon, but our internet access is very limited right now.

As requested, here is a picture and short introduction of my
team. As most of you know, our squad of 52 people is split into 8 teams. My
team has 6 people, and our team name is Umoja. I’m told that Umoja is Swahili
for unity. When we were picking out team name, they told us that the team’s
name is important and should have some type of biblical backing. We were also
told that most teams do not make through the entire race without switching. The
teams have to change for various reasons (not all are bad reasons), but our
team’s desire is to truly exhibit unity through peace.

Our theme is
taken from Ephesians 4.

Ephesians
4:1-3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have
received. Be completely humble
and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love. Make
every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace.

Please pray with us as we ask the Lord for team unity. We
desire to be a team unified and focused on running after God. Most of all, we desire to know God and make him known (YWAM
purpose statement that’s awesome).

Below is a picture of my team. We are from all over the US and come
from very different backgrounds. Kristen is from Maryland; she is currently taking a year off
of college to do the Race. Angela is from Georgia. She is an oncology nurse.
Nathan is from Colorado,
and he has taken a year off work for the Race. Alissa is from Minnesota and is also an oncology nurse.
Finally, Ashley is from Wisconsin,
and she just graduated college with a civil engineering degree. (I know I
labeled myself unnecessarily in the picture, but I put the labels on the
picture so the whole team could use it if they wanted)

Oh and by the way, that is Russia on the other side of the river.

Hopefully there will be more to come soon.
