Who?
Us along with about 50 other young adults
What?
An 11 month long mission trip around traveling to 11 different countries.
Where?
The 11 different countries as tentatively scheduled: Dominican Republic, Haiti, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Romania, Moldova, Philippines, Nepal, China, and India.
Why?
Throughout the time we have known each other, we have always discussed future plans and aspirations. Once married, our individual plans became less significant as we discussed our plans as a couple. One time as we sat around discussing our marriage, the topic of mission work came up. Both of us agreed that since a young age we had been interested in mission work. Later in life, we both agreed we had felt called to it. We also agreed that living in another country was not out of the question. If you know either of us, you know we were super excited about the idea of serving others and doing it in another country.
Last summer before we got married, Molly looked at traveling with AIM on a summer mission trip. While focused on wedding planning and school, Molly knew that the timing was not right, but still wished she could have gone. Shortly after getting married, one of Ty's friends joined the world race. As he followed her blog, we joked that we could go if they took married people. Later we found out that couples could go. Even still, the world race seemed like more of an on going joke, an escape to run away from life. This semester as Molly began to prepare to graduate in December, we started talking about the next step in the awesome amazing adventure of the Capistrant duo. Along with these thoughts, there were two other pivotal circumstances. Molly began taking an ethics class that made us as a couple challenge who we are and why we do what we do. Also, our church small group began reading the book Radical by David Platt. In the first chapter, the book begins by challenging us to answer whatever we feel called to do. Immediately, the world race came to both of our minds. After a short time of prayer and discussion, we knew this is exactly what we were meant for this year.
