I just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going here in training camp. It’s been a month and a half since I started the Race. I have met challenges and obstacles I’ve never experienced before. Adjusting to life primarily outside with 30 other people in a campsite has been interesting, but community has formed and we are strong in our faith and friendships. The picture attached is off the dining patio that my squad uses as a meeting point, we talk, play cards, have Bible study, and eat there. So many hours spent. I’ve met physical challenges as well. For instance about a week ago my team hiked on a trail which included blindfolded teammates, crab walking, and carrying a 300-pound tire. Recently, I ate crickets and a “1,000-year old egg” as well as other foreign foods (crickets done right are actually pretty decent, except for the legs getting stuck in your teeth). I have also met some aspects of this trip that I have questions about. I’ve been met with things that I disagree with or are unsure of, theologically speaking. Above everything, I am thankful for this experience. My age is crucial in my spiritual life, I have the opportunity to reinforce a concrete faith right before heading off to college. But, most importantly to serve and glorify God. I have my first mission opportunities coming up before I get to go international. First, I will be visiting nearby Lawrenceville, Georgia helping a community impacted by human trafficking, then I am going to go to Lake Charles, Louisiana on the 24th to help with Hurricane relief with Samaritan’s Purse. Thank you all for your financial and prayer support. Also, please pray for wisdom and humility for me as I encounter people who need help as I go out in the world.

P.S.
