Heya friends! In an attempt to blog more, I’ve decided to start this new type of blogs called A Page From My Journal! These blog will be exactly what the name sounds like, it’s a blog that is just a copy and paste of my journal (with a little revision). This first one is all about the joy that I have begun to find in the most small and simplest of things, and how I should turn that all back to God! These may not be the longest blogs, and sometimes they may look more like prayers to God, but these are the things that I’m learning and chasing after! The styles make look different each time; but this is more of a look at my life in that moment, and I want to share that with you all! So here we go, A Page From My Journal: Joy in the Simple Things!
Finding joy in the simplest of things is something that I want to start diving into more over the remainder of my Race, Abba. It’s something that I do from time to time already, but I want it to be a more constant thing. I feel like it’s a good way to just be continually filled by your Spirit, a way to continually see how you bring delight into my life!
To start this off, I’m just going to make a list of small things that I’ve started to find joy in:
* A simple cup of coffee
* Lists
* Rediscovering old worship music
* Being able to actually download music
* Sunsets/sunrises
* Morning air
* Talking to cab drivers
* Taking a day captive
* Friendships
* Showers that aren’t in a bucket
* Ideas
* Revelations
* Peanut butter
* A mattress
* Clean hair/clothes
Over the span of my Race, I’ve just found pleasure in so many simple things that I would never appreciate back home. The simple things are the things that have begun to bring me the most joy over my Race whenever they pop up though! I can’t even begin to explain the immense joy that I felt the first time I realized that peanut butter was readily available here; it was glorious!
I think that if I start turning these simple moments of joy back to the Lord, my walk with him would be radically different! If I take the time to give back to the Lord what is already his, my gratitude will skyrocket. Finding joy in the simplest of things in life is what we should be doing with the Lord, just taking a minute to realize all the goodness that he has blessed us with.
I mean, I had the opportunity of waking up this morning, and that in itself is huge! Beyond that, I not only got to wake up, I got to wake up and experience God’s creation! I see trees, the sunrises and sunsets, other people, the list just goes on and on. But each of these things is just as great as the last, and they each being joy into my life, and I never used to attribute this to the Lord. So I’m going to start doing just that, I’m going to enter into a posture of joyful thankfulness!
Well there you have it, the first of (hopefully) many pages from my journal! I hope that this in some way has made you think about the things in life that you don’t usually give God the praise for, or at least helps you begin to find the joy that you once had for something. Walking in this the past couple of days has just really improved my quality of life, and has made things just so much more joyful!
