Hey T-Squad,

A few things have been on my heart to share with you before we left. I intended to create three beautifully written blogs but I've been busy getting ready, as I suspect we all have. So these will be shorter and super condensed into one, but hopefully they can still be meaningful.

My Bible study started Isaiah this year for the first time, and even though I won't be able to finish it with them, one thing stood out early on in the book that I won't forget. Let me preface this by saying that I'm not pretending to be a theologian or Biblical scholar, so forgive me if I get something wrong.

Isaiah had a good upbringing and seemed to be a pretty decent guy. One day Isaiah had a dream or vision that the Lord was present. Seraphs were flying around singing "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord who rules over all. The whole earth is filled with his glory."  Isaiah responded saying he was unclean, unworthy, and that he'd been hanging out with the wrong crowd. Then a seraph touched his lips with a burning coal to cleanse him. God then called him to do His work by asking, "Who shall I send? Who will go for us?" Isaiah responded "Here I am. Send me."

There are so many ways to go in depth with this little passage from Isaiah 6, but here's what I took from it: I know God called me to The Race and I responded with excitement. Since studying Isaiah 6, I've been asking God to show me where I'm missing the mark. God has convicted me (gently this time) of what I was asking for and I've been trying to turn things around with the power of the Holy Spirit, even though it feels like its at a snail's pace. God called me and I want to make sure my heart is clean before I begin this journey. Its what He deserves.

I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to get on their knees and confess right now. This was just a little something that was helpful for me. If you find its good for you, then I'm glad 🙂

If you have some free time during the next few days, read some WR blogs. I find that they're giving me some relief from the pre-race jitters!

The next part is a little cheesy, but the song "The Call" by Regina Spektor has meant more to me now than ever before. And I'm not just thinking of us first-timers, but Hollis and Noe and well as they return to the field. (I had trouble pasting the words up and didn't feel like typing them so the mushy, and a tad inapprop video will have to do  🙂

See you very, very soon!  Enjoy!
