So I have this app on my phone and its a devotional by Greg Laurie. If you don’t have it, get it. They are short and sweet. I can’t tell you how many days I have just been down for the count and then I read his daily devotional. It usually ends up being just what I needed. That being said, I am pretty much going to blog what todays devotional taught me. It was so perfect that I have too. For all you teachers out there I am terribly sorry but I will be plagarizing a bit. Let’s be honest though, most those rules are stupid anyway.
I am here to tell everyone YOU have an appointment with God. Daily. No exceptions. You might say “ya well, duh.” But really. How many of us actually take certain time out of our busy schedule to meet with God? I know there are some, but honestly that is something I know I struggle with and so do a lot of other people!
I really want to know how many times a day God looks down at me and says “Troy I have wanted to speak with you but you’re too busy. Troy, you bailed on me this morning. Troy, why are you watching tv? I have something important to tell you! Troy, instead of watching the walking dead you could be reading your bible or praying. Troy, Troy, Troy!! Troy, what are you doing that is more important than spending time with me?” God is constanlty at the door, knocking, wanting to help me and yet I dont answer. Then I wonder why I feel so lost all the time and mentally drained. Wonder why I still struggle with my addictions. I wonder all these things and then I am reminded I didn’t make it to my appointment.
Have you ever wondered about the problems in your life? Maybe its a struggle or an addiction. You always fight them but you always end up making it to that appointment. You always end up at the wrong appointment or you choose to put God off for a better time. Then theres God sitting on his throne wondering what the heck happened. WELL, I mean He knows what happened but you catch my drift.
How about if we stop focusing on our problems and start focusing on the problem solver. We can’t beat these problems alone. We need a savior. A savior who is willing to meet with us every second of everyday to walk us through these heart aches and addictions. Jesus wants that. He wants us to come to Him and talk to him. A daily appointment so to speak. He promises us peace, comfort, and healing by meeting and talking with Him. We just have to start showing up the appointment times.
It’s so crazy how my addictions seemed to disappear when I started focusing on the problem solver. When I started to read and pray daily it all fell into place. It is insane how big our God is! It is insane that the God who created the universe wants to spend daily time with me! Walk with ME, through my problems! It is time to start making our appointments with God!
