The struggle was already real. But it just got realer.

So, I’m putting out a wanted ad. I need a Catholic… A real one, not a “born-Catholic” or a pre-race Catholic who’s now a protestant or something after their 11 months in the field.

I need someone who is as Catholic as they are American.

Because I’m not big on the speaking in tongues or the catching the Holy Spirit or any of that other mega church/TV stuff that is apparently common practice for a lot of Christians in the States (who knew), and definitely in Africa. And with Africa presenting it’s own set of personal… Struggles, shall we say, my plan from Day 1 of the race was to focus pointedly on spirituality, mine and others. But I don’t know that I believe that 10 people had demons cast out of them at the crusade tonight. Actually, that’s a lie. I KNOW I don’t believe that.

One thing I had been getting pretty decent at is “discerning” stuff like that. Safe to say I didn’t really notice any demonic presence, and definitely not 10. Not that I couldn’t be wrong, but I prolly would’ve caught one.

Point is, based on what I’ve seen so far, the World Race isn’t for Catholics. I’m interested to hear from someone who’s been here, done it. I know what I’d tell a Catholic who was thinking about doing the race, but being in the middle, I’m not sure what I’d tell me with 7 months to go.

If ya got someone, send’ em my way, folks.

P.S. If you guys would like to pray for me, you can specifically do that by asking for the wisdom to tell what’s really God, and what’s not. It’ll help.
