For my first blog, I would like to provide a brief summary of my testimony.
Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. Jesus says in John 8:32 ““If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
I didn’t know Jesus growing up. I wasn’t raised in the Church, or in a Christian household. I had very little, next to zero knowledge of the God of the universe and His Son whom He sent.
I began to seek the truth in my second year of college (final semester). I lived a very sinful lifestyle, something that the world proposed to be normal and fulfilling. I was a broken person, living a false identity, trying to become somebody/something that I was never created to be. I began to think to myself, “their has to be something more”.
I started by occasionally praying and asking God some simple questions, such as “who are you?” and “what are you all about?”. God seen my faith and heard my prayers. He began to reveal himself by opening my eyes and renewing my mind to see His glory and the riches of His kingdom. He sent me to campus ministries and bible studies. After finishing college He brought me home to work for a Christian family that encouraged me and guided me closer to Him. I began reading His word (the Bible), and gathering with His church.
I was baptized the following summer, coming out of the water as a new man, cleansed of all sin. My baptism was a public proclamation of my faith to the church and to the world.
“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:10-11
Since the day I first believed, Jesus has been molding and shaping me to be more like Him. The Holy Spirit of the Most High God now lives in me and is continually at work in my life, blessing me with His gifts and helping me to bear much “good fruit” (Luke 6:43). I now live a life that is dedicated to glorifying Him and making Him known through my every word and deed (Colossians 3:17).
God continues to bless me with knowledge and revelations of what it means to be His child, and continues to reveal His will for my life as an individual, and His greater will for all creation. I am excited to see what He has planned for my team and I, as we embark on this 11 month journey around the world. I invite you all to join us on our adventure by following my blogs and supporting us in prayer.
Grace and peace be with you all. 🙂
