The last three days have been classic World Race days. Let me give you a brief summary:
On Saturday we woke up and rode a bus to the Nile River. Except for the mud huts on the shores and little African children screaming at you, much of it looks pretty much like the Ohio River. Could’ve fooled me. We got in a piece of plastic and rafted down some class 5 rapids. It was so fun. I’ve never rafted before and I was seriously terrified. We flipped several times, but that’s definitely the best part. I’m such a wimp though. As soon as we hit any rapid, I was such a slacker. Even when our guide was telling us to paddle hard, I was just grabbing onto the rope screaming. Weakest link for sure. Once Sarah got thrown over the side and I forgot to help her back in the boat because I was screaming so much so she got taken down by the rapids. I’m a jerk. I seriously thought she was dead and I panicked. Thankfully she was fine and loved the ride down. I have yet to stop hearing about it from her. I think the funniest part of rafting is trying to get back in the boat. It’s impossible. People have to pull you up and you’re just flailing with your butt up in the air trying to grasp onto anything. Humiliating. On the way home we had to stop for a pee break due to how much Nile River we swallowed. We finally pulled over and all ran out into the bush. As we’re all squatting, we realized that it was actually someone’s backyard and that we were being watched. They didn’t mind, but it was a perfect world race moment. Can you imagine if you were in Ohio and a bus full of Africans stopped at your house and all dropped their pants to pee in your backyard? Reality check. To all of us it was the most normal thing in the world. I pointed this out to everyone and we laughed a lot.
On Sunday, I woke up and preached at church. It went amazingly well and God spoke through me. I love that. It’s awesome when you don’t have anything prepared and He gives you a word and keeps you speaking about it for almost an hour. We came back that afternoon and had a session with our contact about casting out demons because we had seen several demons cast out (you can read more about that here) of people the week before. We finished and then two people manifested demons. They were convulsing and screaming, but were eventually cast out because our God is powerful. Somewhere during that time, probably right after the demon told us its name, I looked at Silas and asked him when our lives became this. One day we’re rafting the Nile, the next we’re casting out demons.
Monday we woke up and went bungee jumping over the Nile. We were supposed to do it on Saturday, but didn’t have time. Sarah and I jumped tandem which I was really thankful for because we had the death grip on each other as we screamed and cursed all the way down. It was so funny. She almost puked, I almost peed my pants, but we’re alive and while it was fun, I never want to do it again J. It was terrifying as well. Jumping off that tower was sickening.

Anyway, so there is a good summary of my life over the last couple of days. Even though I’m still pushing through and not at the highest point of my life, God has been doing incredible things and blessing me as well. So good.
