Before going on the race, I didn’t really read my bible a whole lot. I didn’t read it every day and sometimes I wouldn’t read it every week. It wasn’t exactly my top priority at the time. I wanted to read it, but I didn’t really know where to start. I realized that I was missing out on so much knowledge and so much wisdom that i could acquire from the bible. I wanted to be wiser and have a larger knowledge of the bible. I wanted to have a lot of answers to questions that I had.
I struggled thinking about where to start. I wanted knowledge and wisdom, but I didn’t exactly want to read. For those of you that know me really well, know that I am a visual and hands on person. I can’t sit down and read. I was stuck. I met with a good friend named Sam Hotchkiss a week before I left. She had just gotten home from her world race. We talked for a good solid 2 – 2 1/2 hours. She told me that she was in the same boat that I was in, in a way. She encouraged me to read it and she prayed over me.
Since starting the race, I can’t put my bible down. I have been learning so much and I feel wiser. I have read through Roman’s, Proverbs, 1st and 2nd Peter, Matthew, And several other books in the bible. I’m currently reading 1 Chronicles right now. I have created a good habit of reading my bible in the morning and I am trying to read more throughout the day. I am praying that this habit would stick with me through the rest of the race, when I get home and throughout the rest of my life.
I am so thankful for the great conversations that I had with Sam and the many conversations that I have had with my Nanna and Poppie! Please pray for more of a hunger and need for Gods written word. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post.

“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord , and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.”
