Well if you haven’t heard, I now have a tattoo!
When I was in Swaziland, I had been contemplating on getting a tattoo. We had a debrief in South Africa and I spent 3 hours in a tattoo shop with a bunch of other racers trying to decide if I was going to get one or not. After we had left Swaziland and went to Nepal, I once again sat in a tattoo shop. I got really close, but once again I decided not to get one.
Since our debrief in South Africa, I had this one tattoo idea that has constantly been coming to my mind. I kept thinking about a simple cross and some verse on one side, and something else on the other side of the cross.
I was walking around with my buddy Caelum in Antigua, and we were trying to find a good tattoo place so that he could get a tattoo. When we finally found one, I told him about the idea that I have for my own tattoo. Long story short, I walked out of the tattoo shop with a cross and a Psalm on my right forearm.
The cross represents many things to me. The cross represents the pain and the hurt that Jesus went through for me. He was flogged, beaten, spit on, punched, kicked, slapped, and ultimately killed for me. He sacrificed himself, so that I could be with him in the kingdom of the lord forever. He was the perfect sacrifice, to take away my sin. The cross on my arm is a daily reminder of what he did for me.
The cross is also a reminder of everything in my life. It is a reminder to surrender everything that I have, do and give to the lord. It is a reminder of where I have come from since I first started following Jesus. It is a reminder that because Jesus died for me, I am a new creation. It is a reminder that I am God’s. It’s a reminder to glorify God in everything I do.
Now the Pslam is pretty awesome. Psalm 23 is my favorite Psalm out of all of the Pslam’s.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalm 23
Everything in that Pslam is so true. It is a great reminder that the Lord takes care of me and that he is always watching over me.
The tattoo is also a great way to create an opportunity to have ministry. If someone asks about it, I have an opportunity to share the love of God with them and the ability to share the Gospel.
The other side of the cross is for something special. I’ll let y’all know what it will be when the time comes. 😉
If you want to see a photo of my tattoo, check out my Facebook or Instagram. I couldn’t upload a picture to this blog due to the internet.
Well! That’s all I’ve got to say about that. Thanks for reading this blog. I’ll catch ya in the next one.
Blessings, Trevor Regan
