The World Race means brokenness. Central America causes brokenness. To see people be so incredibly poor, to live on dirt floors, to have a “house” made of plastic, to not be able to provide food, to not have what they need. On Sunday the pastor here at Nueva Vida Church in Nicaragua did a sermon on how we may ask for what we want but God knows what we really need and he provides what he knows is best for us. This really touched my heart. What do I really NEED? Do I NEED all of my records and record player at my home that I’m absolutely in LOVE with? I think I do, but I would definitely not die without it.  When God says no, he has a reason for saying no. It’s because we think we need such things when God actually knows what’s best for us to have. If these people had even a fraction of the food that I had in my one bedroom apartment or even what I have in my bag right now here in Nicaragua, these people would be so incredibly happy.

I honestly really didn’t have anything to write a blog over so I’m just sharing what’s been on my heart lately. The poverty that these people live with each day is incredible. Imagine your floor being dirt and walls and ceiling being plastic. This is life. This is why God called me to be his hands and feet. Because these people need to see love in which they feel as though they’re unworthy of. These people need to see the joy that God brings that they’ve always been longing for. These people need hope that there is a better life, even if it’s living on a dirt floor. This is LIFE. God is breaking my heart for what breaks his. I can’t buy these people houses, I can’t give them more beds to sleep on, I can’t provide walls or roofs that are better than plastic, but I can show them a better lifestyle. I can reach out my hand and show them that they are worthy and to help them stop believing the lies that they have always believed.

Here’s the reality check folks; this is a problem all over the world. What if we all made a conscious effort in America to show people that they are Loved, that they are Worthy, that they are Beautiful, that there is a God who has an Incredible life for them, and that God gives them anything that they need. What if we decided to be selfless every single day and decide to serve others more than ourselves? The world would be changed. There would be so much hope and love! What if?
