Malawi is known as the “Warm Heart of Africa” and I truly believe it. Malawians have seemed to be the most loving, thankful, and kind people we have come across. I chose to come on this route with this group of people for three reasons.
1)Nicaragua was in the beginning of the Race which I’ve been to before and wanted to return.
2) Thailand was in the middle of the Race which I have always wanted to do sex trafficking ministry.
3) Malawi was the last month which I have family who has grown up there and lived there for many years as missionaries.
Therefore, I was very excited to come to Malawi. I was a little disappointed at first to find that I am not in the area that my family has lived, but it has been such a great experience anyway! We have done widows ministry which has been wonderful and one of my favorite days of ministry of the whole year. We have dug the ground of a church to lower the ground for concrete, we have also done village ministry to encourage new Christians but also to share the word to non believers. We have went to an awesome Canadian ran orphanage in which we’ve been able to love on the kids there but also the Mammas who raise the kids as a job.
Knowing that we only had two more Sundays left of ministry, I offered to preach at yesterday’s Sunday morning service. I have been a little sick to my stomach this past week so I hoped I would feel better by the service. The Lord blessed my stomach during the duration of my service and at the end of my sermon I decided to do an alter call. We had about 20 to 25 people come forward and had me and my sisters on my team pray for them. I know that the Lord has truly blessed my time on the World Race and feel so honored that he entrusted me with his gospel.
“Just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts” 1st Thessalonians 2:4
Before the World Race, I couldn’t speak in public. When I say I couldn’t speak in public, I literally mean it sounded like I was crying while I spoke because my voice was so shaky. When we went to training camp for the World Race and we went around and said our name, age and where we were from- my voice shook incredibly and I could barely get the information out. Now, I preach in front of congregations.
Before the World Race, I would have never shared the gospel. I never felt comfortable enough, good enough, or close enough to the Lord to actually share his word that I barely knew myself. Now, I speak the gospel to people daily. In fact, my job every day is to speak the gospel to people and I love doing it. I now know the Holy Spirit and have a relationship with him to where I trust his words to share the good news. I now know that it is not my words, but his. Therefore I trust that he is with me and will speak through me and willingly speak to whoever he wants me to.
I will continue to do the Lords work through ministry for the next days of ministry in Malawi, and the last seven days of ministry of the World Race, but I will continue to do ministry for the rest of my life because the Lord has entrusted me to do so. He’s entrusted you to do the same! You don’t have to travel the world and experience what I have in order to share the gospel. The Lord has entrusted you too! So what are you going to do with it?
