But I can still worship in Spanish! I came on this trip knowing I’d be in other countries, they speak different languages, and I’m coming to bring people to the Lord, but I never actually realized the other languages would worship. My mind doesn’t think things through sometimes. But God’s surprised me so much by the worship of these Guatemalan people.

First off, people here ball their eyes out crying to the Lord when worshiping, not because something is wrong- But because they strive for the Lord so much.

Secondly, certain church services here are about four and a half hours long, like it was today.

Our awesome contact Maurine took us to her church today. It basically changed my life. Lately I’ve realized my worship is even better when I don’t speak the language. When I know the language and I’m singing, I love to sing therefore I more so focus on the harmonies and my voice rather than God time. This time has turned into focusing on Jesus and growing my relationship with the Lord.

So, we show up and the music leaders are on the second floor in a prayer circle praying over the service which was amazing in itself. My team leader Brandon actually went up there and prayed with them which was such an inspiration to all of us. If we went out of our comfort zones a lot more, we would experience the Lord a lot more. So the beginning of worship there was clapping and a select few was dancing. By the time “Sunday school” which was the first half of the four hours were over, everyone in the room was dancing. I’ve never been in such a huge Jesus celebration and danced and enjoyed God. My thought that I kept thinking was “God is COOL”, “We’re dancing and hanging out with God!” “We’re PARTYING with God!” This was an experience I’ll never forget.

Also, God always puts people in my life in crazy ways. There was a white man (who we pointed out before this happened, because we now point out every white person and freak out about it), but this man came straight up to me and put out his hand to meet me. I said “Buenos Dias” and he says “Yeah, I don’t speak any Spanish at all, only English”. I quickly found out this couple is from Texas and low and behold- from a Church of Christ church! This has been my life long denomination and something you don’t come across very often. After I shared that we have the same denomination, he asks “Do you go to Harding?” This is the college I was actually enrolled at but last second got out of all my classes and decided against it. So after church I spoke to them again, and they asked where I’m from. I told them Springfield Missouri and the wife goes “OH! My sister lived there for two years and worked at…..” I didn’t listen to the rest because I was so marveled at how much this couple has in common with me.

This church service rocked my world, showed me SO MUCH, grew my relationship with God incredibly, and sent me awesome people for me to be excited about. It is amazing! Here’s a video for visual 🙂
