So we are here in Nepal….that’s so crazy to say. Surreal that we have actually begun this journey that we have been preparing for and had a heart for, for a long time. Starting in Atlanta with my team and finally reaching our first of 11 countries after 38+ hours of travel was such an overwhelming feeling. This big thing that I dreamed of and tried to imagine is right in front of me and the moment I stepped off of the plane, it became my reality.

On Jult 5th my squad landed in Kathmandu, Nepal. Three of our teams then made our way to a suburb of Kathmandu to a house where we met our ministry contact, were able to rest AND SHOWER, and take in the beautiful views of the city and mountains surrounding us.

Our contact told us about the cultural, economic, political and spiritual climate of Nepla. Here are a few facts we learned:

  • there are 379 differnt people groups in Nepal
  • over 125 different languages- primary language being Nepalese
  • around 82% of Nepali people are Hindus and only about 2% are Christians
  • Nepal has an anti-conversion law which means if you “convert” someone to christianity you can be arrested and put in jail for 3 years
  • over 50,000 girls are trafficked from Nepal every year
  • human trafficking, human sacrifice in the name of idol worship, 10 years of civil war, child marriage, and political instibility are all part of the past and present reality in Nepal

July 7th my team travelled north to a village, Dhulikehel, in the mountains. Here we will be going into schools to share our testimonies and the gospel as well as educating the children on human trafficking. We will also trek around these gorgeous mountians to neighboring villages to share the gospel.

P.S. at this site we will not have wifi until later this month, so don’t freak out it if the blogging is inconsistent *coughMom&Kyliecough*
