If there is one thing that the Lord is already working with me on, it’s trust. Trusting in him to know that he will provide and look after me. Trusting that his plans are greater than my own. And now trusting in Him even when curveballs are thrown our way in terms of this journey.

As racers, we have constantly been told to be prepared for surprises and changes throughout this journey. I may have not been expecting these changes until we were out in the field but nonetheless, here we are!I learned today that there is a change in our route. Instead of going to Estonia and Latvia, we will now be heading into Romania and Moldova.

At first, I have to admit, I was a little frustrated, “Ugh, Lord, I just ordered a whole bunch of business cards to hand out that have all of the countries from the original route printed on them! Now they are all going to be wrong!” I had to take a step back for a second and realize how ridiculous I was being. I have always wanted to go to Romania. I had done numerous research projects on Romanian orphanages in college and have always wanted to visit for myself. So why am I being a “Debbie Downer” about some business cards? I mean, really, who cares if two of the countries are wrong on the cards?? I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting angry emails or calls about how people just can’t believe I dared to give them a card with two countries on it that I will no longer be traveling to. And if I do, I will apologize for the incredible inconvenience that it would have caused in their life, and then not give it a second thought. I know God has big plans for where ever we may end up during our 11 months abroad and that there probably will be many more unexpected changed in our travel plans. He could change every single country on our route and it would not matter. I will just have to be flexible and trust in Him, knowing that He has a reason for every place He may take us.

So here is some information on the two newest additions to our route!

Romania

The northern regions of Romania are home to the gypsy community. Though strangers in their homeland and forgotten by society, the gypsies are a strong and vibrant people who embrace the light of Christ in an inspirational way. Here, you will teach English, lead sports camps, live life with the gypsies, and more. It will be an exciting time of learning about a people group you may not have known even existed.

Moldova

Once a part of Romania, this former Soviet republic declared independence in 1991. Moldova, one of the poorest European countries, is riddled with a high underground crime rate. This country is vulnerable as a transit point of human trafficking. The main language spoken is Romanian (also called Moldovan) but there’s debate as to what the Moldovan ethnicity is exactly. We need people who will bring kingdom clarity and declare the peace of God over a land filled with confusion and chaos.
