Hello from Cambodia!
For the first week of the month our whole squad was together in the city of Siem Reap, Cambodia for a debrief with our squad leaders, mentors and coaches that flew in from the States. It was a refreshing time of rest, fellowship with the rest of our squad, and outside perspective on what we can be working toward as a team. We had the opportunity to tour Angkor Wat at sunrise and see a bit of Cambodian history.
Personally, it was a great time to process through things from the past month, catch up with squad mates over lunch dates and wandering around the markets, as well as have some down time to refocus and press into what I want to get out of the next couple months.
My team is now in the village of Pouk, just outside the city, where we we will be doing ministry for the remainder of the month. We are partnered with YWAM for teaching English and computer classes,
Monday through Friday, to children from neighboring villages as our main ministry. Village kids club, bible study and church services are also our responsibilities this month. This week we were able to observe the classes and monitor their midterm exams before actually beginning our teaching roles the start of next week.
I have to say I am excited about this month; teaching English in a foreign country is something I have been wanting to do and I feel the Lord is using this team to teach me more than I expected about vulnerability and trust <–most likely a coming blog topic. Each and every person on this team has something valuable to bring to ministry and to my growth as a person and I’m ready to press in to know them on a deeper level. I have a feeling this is going to be a good month, in fact, I choose to make it one.
P.S. we get to ride bicycles around from village to village for ministry!
