“A person finds identity only to the extent that he commits himself to something beyond himself, to a cause greater than himself. The meaning of our lives emerges in the surrender of ourselves to an adventure of becoming who we are not yet.” – Brennan Manning

So often we allow a title(s) to define the “person”. This should not be. You are a child of God first and foremost. So wether you are preaching in a church, holding children at an orphanage or hanging out by yourself on a park bench, you are representing The Great “I AM”, so act like it!

You will know the true character of a person by what is done when no one is watching.

It’s best when we realize that a title is there to provide reference and clarity on roles for a team of people. Roles are used to better equip the team for the most profitable, fluid and focused outcome. A title is not what defines the person, but rather it’s what the person does with the title that defines the person.

If you want to know if your too distracted by a “title”, consider being moved from a leader to a racer or vice versa. If you feel more or less “powerful”, regardless of the move,  then pray for a release from social/class mentality, comparison and conditional constraint , repent and ask for freedom.

A leader is someone who doesn’t have to have the title to have the best intentions, to choose the right attitude, to be ethical, to choose the right voice or make the best of situations.

A leader is someone who is sure enough in themselves in Christ that they don’t need to speak all the time, they don’t need to always be out front, they don’t need to always handle everything. They don’t always need to be seen.

A leader is someone who can respectfully lead from wherever they are – regardless of title.

Your voice, interest, attitude, intention, ethic, will and emotion should not alter based on a title. If/when it does be sure to check your heart about why your signed up to be a servant for a year – not a leader.

In life, some of the best leaders I’ve known are those who do the best at empowering others to lead.

There is no true eternal power in earthly titles. For those who have a fear of losing a title actually have a fear of loosing the respect, support and love of others. The authority and “power” that comes with the titles is sometimes all too condemning of a reason to stay in that bondage of lies.

Sometimes in order for His plan to take over our lives we need to be challenged as we outgrow “coats” and grow into new roles. Ultimately breakdowns about who we thought we were lead to break through’s about  Who’s we really are.

And it’s when we trust the Father’s leading from one place of certainty to a place of uncertainty that the strands of greatness are extended and faithfully impact others as His will is being done in us, through us and because of us.

“I have no real need to be noticed or garner sympathy or accolades for my service to God.  If I’m being poured out and made to stretch a little then maybe that’s his grace taking me beyond the confines of my distressingly needy flesh.” – Seth Barnes

I hope that you’ve been blessed…

In Him,

Trip
