“Worshiping vs. Worshiper..”
So I’ve recently contemplated what it means to worship God. A lot of things in life are challenging me to worship at a new level and the only way I can truly express this is through a new identity in Him as a worshiper of God. What does that mean..? Well, the books of David have taught me a lot about what it means to be a worshiper of God. No matter how high or low David’s life turned..he chose not only to worship God, but to be a worshiper. The difference is when you choose to worship as a first response to whatever happens in life and not just the things that may benefit you…
After coming out of Africa, one of the most spiritually heightened seasons of my life, I’m now aware of the difference between worshiping and having the heart of a worshiper. Worshiping is just that…choosing to worship for a period in time or a season of life. Having the heart of a worshiper expresses the greatness of God in all things – no matter the outcome.
It’s written on my heart as who I AM. “A Worshiper” and I acknowledge it’s my identity instead of something I do – it’s who I AM.
So when things happen in life, good or bad..I choose to worship as my identity.
I challenge you to choose to worship as your first course of action – regardless of the circumstances. Instead of just worshiping…choose to be a worshiper.
Here is a video reflecting on the beautifully, irreplaceable sounds of African worship I’ve experienced..I hope and pray you enjoy and learn to be a worshiper in all things..
