What do i say about Malaysia?

Well the first couple of weeks in Malaysia were rough for me because I really missed all of my friends in Cambodia…A LOT!

We were involved in a lot of different ministries…so it was hard from me to connect with people….But God and I had a lot of intimate time together…and i really think He wanted me to focus on connecting back with Him this month…which was the BEST!

Here's a quick look at what we did:

Week 1 We volunteered at Adventist Hospital to raise money for children in need of heart surgeries who could not afford them. Both of our teams raised around 13,000 Ringgit (a little over $4,000 USD).

Week 2 We volunteered at a home for the blind. We organized boxes filled with old files. Not my favorite, but the people were really sweet.

Week 3 I volunteered at the Kawan Center, which is a homeless shelter. We helped serve breakfast and lunch to the people who came in. One thing i like about Malaysia is the diversity. Chinese, Indian, Malay…so I was able to meet many different kinds of people. My favorite was Felix. He sat down by us the first day I was there and had a long convo with us. He doesn't believe in God or any gods. He told me he is a free thinker, but i believe that one day he will know Jesus as the one true God.

On Wednesday nights we went out into the streets with local Christians who have formed relationships with many of the sex workers. It really made me miss the ladyboys I met in Thailand, but it was awesome to see God working and many of the sex workers were open to receiving prayer!

On Thursday nights we went to Doors of Hope, which is a program that helps children with studies. We played with the kiddos and helped them with English.

My FAVORITE thing in Penang by far was the Penang House of Prayer (PenHOP). It was very similar to IHOP in Kansas City, MO. Every Tuesday and Friday night we were able to worship together with other believers in Malaysia. It was incredible. You could feel the presence of the Lord as soon as you stepped into that room. I had many conversations with Father God about His love.  I really think God wanted me to see the House of Prayer in Malaysia, because it increased my desire to be involved in a House of Prayer wherever I end up living.

This month God uprooted a lot of things that I didn't realize I still carried so He could start the healing process. I will write about that in my next blog!
