Have you ever had one of those moments that you truly felt alive? For me it happens whenever I feel close to the Father. It happens standing the middle of a giant river, or laying in the middle of the woods. There's something about stepping outside of the world you know, the routines we so easily get caught up in without even realizing it, and being in something bigger than you, that you can't control. That is what every day of training camp was for me. I've been having a hard time explaining training camp to everyone that's been asking about it sense I got back. To cut it down to just a few adjectives, it was wonderful, beautiful, humbling, and exciting. The community with these people is exactly what I've always thought the church should truly look like. I've already fallen in love with the people and the staff there. Because they aren't looking to put you through some "program" they've created to make you a better person. They lead by serving, and let God call the shots, and because of that, He does. They understand that everyone is in process, everyone is learning, and we're all working toward the same goal. Prayer is constant thing with the entire squad, and far from just a last resort.
I did not sign up for this to learn more doctrine or find a better way to say something. I'm starting this journey because I'm tired of hearing about the love of God. I'm tired of talking about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and healing the sick. Because I could sit in church every Sunday and listen to principals and doctrine till I die, but I don't believe that's what we are called to do. I believe our God is bigger than that. I want to see it done. I want to understand what it's like to NEED Him.
During training camp we were put into our teams, and I couldn’t be happier with my team. As you think of me in your prayers, remember these awesome people too.
Also if anybody would like to help me financially, I need about $800 by this Friday (the 15th) to meet my next deadline. This will get me to $6,500, and I’ll need $15,500 for the whole trip. If you feel led, prayer is always appreciated. I know God will come through. Thank you so much to the people who have already helped.
My team 🙂
