My School of Eagles Roommate Rachel and Myself

Rachel was my School of Eagles roommate.  If you were to see Rachel and I together, we would have been total opposites.  God knew exactly what I needed in having her as my constant influence there.  This is too small a space to tell you how much Rachel impacted my life.  She was the only other full-time classmate and my roommate at our remote location.  Rachel had also been on the World Race two years earlier (on the 1st Generation H Squad).

Rachel challenged and encouraged me to become more like Jesus Christ through her actions and her words.  She had an intimacy with God that made me want to know Him in the same way.  Rachel would talk to Him about whatever she was feeling or thinking about, no matter the content.  Because of her example and the classes we took, my view of God changed from disciplinarian dictator to loving, caring Father.  I now see God as someone who longs to spend time with me and wants to shower me with His love.

Because Rachel and I are opposites, we bring different points of view into the other's life.  She sees things outside the box while I knew only black or white.  I had grown up with Biblical knowledge whereas Rachel was more Holy Spirit led.  Rachel was able to open my eyes to new possiblities and a freedom I had never known through Christ.
