On Saturday, we had the owner and his family of the farm where we are staying visit us.  While he was there, Dex from our team, started feeling sick.  He was heading to the bathroom when he started to faint.  Luckily, my team nurse Rebecca saw him walking funny and was watching him.  She saw him start to faint and was able to catch him so his head did not hit the ground.  He threw up (for his first time ever) and slept it off.  He had started feeling better the next day.  It turned out that he had not cooked his egg thoroughly enough.

Rebecca, Christy, and Allen on Sunday (before Christy and Allen had to be admitted to the hospital)

On Sunday, Allen (from team rooted 19:30) started feeling sick (diarrhea and vomiting).  He stayed home from church to be closer to the facilities.  In the afternoon, his team came back from church and he was joking around with them while laying in the grass since he didn’t have enough energy to go in the house.  He continued vomiting and having diarrhea most of the day.  When he did come inside, he tried laying down in his room but had to use the bathroom so he ended up lying on the bathroom floor for a few hours to be close enough to them if he needed them.  He started cramping up.

While this was going on that evening, Christy from his team started to get a headache.  She was also really tired  and cold.  She decided to go to bed.  After an hour or two, she started vomiting and having diarrhea too.  She was cramping as well.

After a couple more hours, Alex from their team started having diarrhea and vomiting as well.  She was able to keep some fluids in so she was able to stay at home.   She is doing fine.

We decided that since Allen needed to go to the hospital, we would have Christy checked out also since she had the headache as well.  Neither had much energy so we had to carry their things and help them walk to the car to go to the hospital.   While on the way to the hospital, Christy became worse.  Luckily, Rebecca had gone with them.  She took care of both of them while Tony drove.  We were blessed to have his (and now our) friend Suymaya translate and talk to the doctors for us.  They were checked in and started on fluids.

It turned out that Allen was dehydrated and had some sort of stomach bug.  Christy’ was diagnosed with Dengue Classico- which could have become very dangerous if it had not be found when it was.  They are both back at home and doing well.

Sunday night/early Monday morning, after coming home from dropping off the other two at the hospital, Rebecca started feeling really sick.  She had diarrhea and vomited once.  She had a little cramping.  She was able to rest and get fluids.  She is tired but doing well.  Amanda, a nurse on the other team, stayed home to take care of Alex and Rebecca, while the rest of us did our ministry.

Tuesday morning, Jake from the other team started having diarrhea and vomiting.  Rebecca, who was feeling better, stayed home to rest up and take care of Jake.  He is doing much better and is resting today.

Please pray for health and safety for all!  Thank you!
