Penang Hospital where we volunteer
Our ministry this month is split between two ministries: a hospital and a drop in center. We work at one location for the week while Team Engedi works at the other. The next week we swap locations.
Selling Fish (from left to right: our Squad Leader Shannon, Rebecca, Addie, Myself, Cara, Angela, and Mary)

At the hospital, we try to sell stuffed animal fish, heart coin banks, and CDs to unsuspecting patients and their family members. We are raising money for the hospital’s heart surgery fund for children and adults who cannot afford the surgery otherwise.

At the drop in center, we serve breakfast and lunch to the poor (some are working, some are homeless). The age range is from lower 30s t0 lower 90s. The majority are senior citizens. The drop ins are able to have a place to do laundry, take a shower, take a nap, and eat two meals. We also have a bible study with music.

This month has been more difficult for our team since we cannot build relationships with individuals. Since we split time between the two ministries, it is hard to develop friendships with anyone at the ministries. We have been able to spend time with one of the hospital workers named Cat.
