Picture of Tegucigalpa

Los Pinos is the poorest area of Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras.  Hurricane Mitch wiped out many communities in 1998. The survivors whose houses were destroyed were moved to many communities- Los Pinos being one of them.

The people of Los Pinos have no access to clean water other than the water trucks that come daily to replenish their supply. They buy water to drink in plastic sandwich bags.
We are working on rebuilding and restarting a school/community center in that community. They have not had one in their community for the past 8 years. The building that we are using for the school currently has no roof. We will work on fixing up the building by painting and adding some sort of roof. We will also teach classes.

A lot of children in this community do not go to school. They either do not have the transportation to get there or do not have the money for uniforms (for the older children). Some children spend the little money that they have on getting high.
On Monday, our joint team (Team Arrow and Team rooted 19:30) went to Los Pinos to pray over the school/community center building. We also played with the children of the community (keep away and soccer). On Tuesday, five people from our joint team worked on cleaning up the school building and the surrounding area. When they showed up to clean, the children and their families came to help (bringing out their brooms to sweep and machetes to cut the grass). The community is hungry for change and want to make the community better for their children.
The children need the love of God to pour over them. They have little hope because of their surroundings. We are working on providing this by showing them that we care about their lives and their community. Please pray that we are able to show the love of Christ in all situations!
