I feel like my blogs have become very lengthy, but God has just done so much! I want to share every detail with you all J we took a three day adventure to look for Dong Tau. Our goal was to take very little and let the Lord provide for us along our scavenger hunt. I’ll try to keep it short and simple, but our journey was truly amazing. We believe the Lord was chuckling while we were packing our bags, as we did not need anything we brought, the Lord provided for our hydration, food, and shelter.

Our first night there, girls (myself included) were all frantically writing in their journals when we arrived at a pipe less, door handle lacking, no lock, squeaky bed hotel after getting rebuked by the police for trying to tent on someone’s property (with their permission of course) because we did not want to forget a single moment that happened and a single thing about what God was doing. The truth is the Lord is always doing something, the Lord is always providing, I just forget it sometimes. We assume only when we ask Him for something will we get it, we forget about all the things He gives us daily and without asking. All the ways He blesses us, how we normalize all the things the Lord does in our lives because we believe we are entitled to it.

We forget that a washer and dryer are luxury; we forget that mattresses not made out of wood planks are a blessing. We forget that being able to be close to our families is not a right, it’s a blessing. We do not have to stay close to our families, but we also can choose to leave them with freedom. Getting from work to home every day is a blessing, waking up in the morning is a blessing. Having fingers, toes, lungs, and senses is a blessing. What do we own or have that is not from the Lord? Nothing.

If we were constantly trying to write down all the blessings the Lord gave us every day, we would never be done writing and then if we never stopped writing we would miss out on what the Lord wants us to do with our blessings! Sometimes it seems endless and overwhelming all the things we could pray for and thank God for. Sometimes, I lay in bed just asking God what in the world I could say to pray for all the people that needed it, all the nations that needed it, what I could pray for myself or my family, the team, the squad, my friends, old co workers, old cases/kids, church members, the sick, the hospitalized, the grieving, the people I’ve met on this journey, and that’s just a few. How can I pray for that continually?! It‘s overwhelming. Then to think of all the things I want to thank the Lord for, when would or should I stop.

Hmm… that was a super long rant, I’m really not sure what I mean from all of that, or what to do with it. This blog was supposed to be about our adventure! It’s all an adventure though. I’ll bullet point for you and for me!

ü Bus ride to the last stop on Bus 16!

ü Walk for three miles until we catch another bus

ü Pee

ü Find food at a local restaurant-Andrea orders chicken… never order meat overseas, you just get more than you bargain for…

ü Walk

ü

ü    Meet a foreigner (first one since Ho Chi Minh) Pray for her

ü  Walk

ü Go into many homes for tea and snacks

ü Pray for healing

ü Find a place to sleep and set up our tents

ü Play football, volleyball, Frisbee and peek a boo

ü Met Tuwang and tickled her like crazy

ü Get rebuked by police by having Timmy (our Ho Chi Minh contact) translate over the phone what he was saying

ü Take tents down and get shuttled over by motorbike to a local hotel

This was day one of our adventure. We stopped at many houses that invited us in, prayed over them-sometimes in secret and sometimes out loud. The woman eat these leaves that make their teeth black, and their saliva red-it looks like something in a horror movie. It gets them high, and eventually makes their teeth fall out. We drew a crowd of over 100 people to love. A common goal for the month was to stop whenever we were invited in! We found what we think is Dong Tau but it was all rice fields. We have a few more places to check tomorrow.

Day two:

ü We walk and run into a young man from the previous night who spoke little English and he took us to his house.

ü Find Tuwang and continue to love on her- Shown right-

ü Eat dinner and sleep at his house

Funny side stories- the beds were made of wooden planks, we were exhausted from the day and we were ready for bed at about 8pm. They give us their beds to sleep in after they fed us all, ridiculously nice.  They keep telling us to sleep, but they have about 20 people over-they are joking and eating and being super loud! Then they go to sleep about 10pm. They leave on a lit tree that changed colors, then twinkled and they blinked like strobe lights, I could not explain the craziness of this story or day if I tried. Regardless if we found “Dong Tau” we knew we were where God wanted us.

Day three: Consisted of a lot of walking. We were invited into several homes and just prayed for the Lord’s revelation in their life. We really felt like the Lord called us to the right places and we felt more blessed than we felt like we blessed.

Luke 10: 8-11: “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into the streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The Kingdom of God is near.’

Overall: A lot of miles walked, and a lot of the Lord taking care of us. Even though it was hard, we ate what was set before us, and prayed for the people we encountered that they would have seen the light of Jesus through us.
