Adventures from Ukraine: In no particularorder…
-
We thought we were going to have to sleep in our tents for the first week here, but there were a few beds open and Jenny and Aly slept on the floor on their sleeping pads. There was a kids camp in session when we arrived. One early morning- there was a sound of splatter in the room, I woke up to find Jenny being puked on! The girl was on the top bunk and her puke was spattering all over the floor and onto Jenny¡K this however did not wake Jenny up so, I politely said, ¡§Jenny wake up you¡¦re being puked on.¡¨ What a fun 6am wake up call ƒº
-
The flies here are outrageous, I have never encountered so many flies in one spot, they land on every inch of you. It¡¦s enough to drive someone insane, namely me! So in our room I was determined to kill every fly so they could not land on me and wake me up all night long. So I began to try and kill every one- got pretty easy after awhile.
-
Jenny eating a crumb of cracker off the floor and thinking she had a hair in her mouth, the joke was that it was actually a fly leg.
-
There is a pond that the children and camp counselors go to in the afternoon during free time. At the lake we had a lot of splash fights, chicken fights, volleyball etc. This is also the pond that the cows come through and bathe in. So we have to get out of the pond and wait for the cows to swim through and then the kids get back in. Aly was convinced that she was stepping on cow ¡¥patties.¡¦ And yes we all swam in this water. Brittany even had a little surprise of something sucking on her leg. Yum.
-
Jenny, Brittany, and I milked a cow! Enough said! It was awesome.

-
We went to church and it was baptism Sunday. People were clothed in white and walked into a lake and were dunked under while professing their dedication to God. It was sweet.
-
This whole place is filled with sand, we call it the sandbox.
-
Memories of Jenny tackling everyone and mud wrestling on water day¡K we¡¦ll leave it at that.
-
¡§Who wants to be Jesus!?!?!?!?!¡¨

Meeting the Hinson family and enjoying their energetic presence here! Mika was our cook and she did fantastic, I had dinner preparation every night so we had tons of fun getting ready together! One night we didn¡¦t have electricity due to a severe storm. Cooking without electricity is stressful, we had to use the gas stove, try to thaw out frozen bread, condense three to small of pots into bigger pots, it was crazy fun! Then Andrew brought us ice cream and chocolates-which makes everything better. And we of course had to taste everything before we served it to people. We often were not hungry for dinner. Her boys, Levi and Noah, were hilarious giving us all sorts of interesting factoids and her husband, Josh did crafts, they were so much FUN!
-
A hail storm- Vacia was outside basking in it (as were some of our girls) and it was awesome to watch his face when the storm was beating on him.
-
Walking six miles home from Ibvonkiv back to camp with Carin, Aly, and Jenny.
-
Cleaning the bathrooms for hours with Carin! And washing a million dishes!
-
Watching Andrew and Jenny¡¦s beautiful children, Abby and Sophi.
-
Making connections with many teens and young people during our last week here through lots of fun games and skits!
-
So this was supposed to be 15 random adventures, but on our last night Jenny, Carin, Bonnie and I added one to the list.. skinny dipping in a Ukrainian river? Yes please!
