So we are staying at Casa Shalom, can’t remember if I’ve said that…
So Romania has a lot of stray dogs, they are everywhere! I love dogs, but these ones are not to pet L However, the owner of Casa Shalom has two dogs who we can pet, one is named Foofy who loves and seeks all of the attention and another one is black and white, no one seems to know her name. She’ll come up to you, but run when you try to pet her. One day she let me pet her and now she runs away again. Foofy often interrupts any attention the black and white gets.
So it struck me that this is what we do with God. We kind of seek Him, we go up to Him, smell Him, see what He’s about but we’re not quite sure about Him. We want Him to pet us, it feels good when He does but we are a constant tease to Him to actually come into our lives and form a relationship. We may allow Him in once or twice but then we stumble and fall away from Him.
We don’t always want to hear what God has to say to us, it’s not easy to follow Him. It’s not always fun and it often interrupts what you want to do. God works everything in us for good, so we have to listen, because what He says IS and we can wrestle with him on things we don’t understand or don’t want to do but what He says IS. God is the end all and know all, it’s hard work to always trust in Him when there is so much disaster and hurt in the world. It’s hard to understand why certain things happen, why some are healed and others are not, why some live to be 100 and others die at 1.
If God is endless than why do we think our tiny brain weighing three pounds could grasp His greatness, plan, mercy, love, compassion, understanding, wisdom, ingenuity, and forgiving nature.
If we listen to what God wants us to do than He will not lead us into dark places, He will guide us to light and provide for us. God is the only one who can see right through us and He will change your heart if you ask Him to. He will change you if you want him to… you just have to be willing-take the plunge and let Him embrace you and pet you. Often we think our hearts are not worthy of this.
God thinks we are worthy, we are His and He wants us to live in a Godly way. We are His sons and daughters and He loves us.
So…I’m going to continue to chase this dog here, just as God will continue to chase us but wouldn’t it be great if the dog would just let me love her the way she deserves! God is such a hard worker and He never gives up-lets be His tools to help Him build a mighty Kingdom!
