Only six hours from the capitol, we are placed in Eldoret. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in Kenya per Wikipedia. We are living in a “mud” house, made of sticks and a mixture of mud and manure pasted over them on the walls. We’ve living with a pastor and his family, they have a house helper and a two year old named Jeremy. They run a small church called, “Releasing Destinies” church here is awesome, we get to sing and dance and shout, whistle, jump- all to praise the Lord!
We’re well known in the community as mzungu’s meaning white people. Everywhere we go, we are shouted at, waved at, and talked to. It makes ministry opportunities easy to come by. We have been going hut to hut to try and bring people into the church, pray for them and speak life and hope over those in need. We’ve been preaching each week at the church and we’ve also visited a school to preach and pray with them. I was the lucky one who got to preach over the children at school- kids=always my cup of tea! Kids have such pure faith and excitement in God, they continue to dream and imagine what God can do and they believe it! I LOVE IT! And African kids are just amazingly beautiful anyway and they are tons of fun!
It’s so fun! We even have a TV that I have had the privilege to watch Kenya’s version of American Idol on- HILARIOUS! and also a spanish soap operas translated into English. And as I’m writing this blog DMX is playing at the internet café… I’m about to go get a 25 shilling Coca-Cola. Life is so good, sitting at the side of the road sipping an ice cold coke waving at everyone who walks by in the warm African sun! I AM SO BLESSED!
People have told me that they could never do a mission trip because of what you have to give up, I’m so blessed because I feel sooooo lucky to have this opportunity to serve God in KENYA of all places and oh yeah 10 other countries. It’s really a blessing and a great opportunity; I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. God is revealing Himself in HUGE WAYS~ so giving up a few comforts here has to me only meant that I’ve received so much more from God.
God is showing me all sorts of amazing things that He is capable of! I GET TO SEE IT! God is so good and I love Africa! We’re going to waterfalls tomorrow and pre-safari… Alex and I have already seen lots of Zebras!
Miss and love you all so much! Thank you for your prayers! I can feel them!
Mark 10:15: I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.
Some pictures are posted on facebook- the internet if very slow so posting is difficult! Thanks for your patience!
