Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation.”
The Lord works in ways we do not understand.. I have been lucky to grow up in a Christian home and a wonderful church but others have not been that lucky. The turning point in my life was when I was 19. I have always believed in God and believed that Jesus was sent here to die so that we could live.. but I truly began to listen to the Lord and understand that we can allow Him to work in us after my first mission trip. It was a different kind of belief, a different kind of hope. His everlasting comfort and guidance giving me peace from day to day.. it’s an indescribable feeling. After I realized all the good that God can do for people, it gave me the heart to share that with others, I began to preach at church, get more involved, invite others to come to church with me, and always remember to thank God. I started to pray in public and speak up when people were saying offensive jokes. I believe that God loves all people and mission work gives all of us the chance to love all people regardless of their religion, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and lifestyle. It is never our place to judge others, denounce their lifestyle or make them feel ‘below’ us because of our differences. I believe God creates those differences, which allows us to overcome our fears, things that make us uncomfortable and just love the way that God loves us. When Jesus was walking this Earth, He did not spend His time with the elite, He spent His time with those who others denounced, who people thought were unworthy of Him. God makes everyone different and has a plan for everyone.
I started this application several times and never finished it until this year.. and to my surprise my application was accepted. I prayed about this trip and asked God to guide my life and this is the path He placed in front of me.
There is a lot of need here in America as well and I know people struggle with always sending relief overseas when we have people here who are suffering. God wants each of us to do our part, I have been inspired to do mission work and I’ve seen the effect that it has on others. I believe that mission work does good for the people that are being helped, the people helping, and it also inspires people at home.. who maybe can’t leave for 11 months or even a week, it inspires them to help in their own community. It is not necessary to travel around the world to do God’s work, you can do it in your own town, but its also important to share the gift of God with everyone! God wants us all to do His work. How I was called to the mission field is by listening to God and allowing Him to work in me. I think of how much God had to sacrifice to send His only Son to die for us.. and it makes me wonder what are we willing to sacrifice for Him?
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.”
