I’m going to tell you about a great bunch of kids. We taught two English classes while in Cambodia. The first group of kids was a class of 50-60 kids all young adult ages. They were pretty rowdy but very fun to build relationships with. Some of them played soccer with us, and some of them came to youth group.

Some of them were Christian, and they were very eager to learn more about God and get involved in the church we were hosting the English class in. One girl named Jew shared her testimony at youth group and discussed how she now gets her happiness from Jesus, she never had happiness before.

She was 14. (Shown in the middle)

Her passion was sharing with her country the hope and happiness that comes with Jesus; she would share with her classmates and was very open to giving her own personal testimony.

Youth group consisted of games, testimonies, music and fellowship. We taught the kids, chubby bunny and snarfle. We also played a mean game of musical chairs.

The second batch of kids was much smaller, it was around 15-20 young adults and they were super eager to learn more English. They were the more advanced class so we could carry on good conversations with them. I spent most of my time with one student, Ratanam. Jonathon did a great job leading the class, and the rest of us filled in wherever was needed. This student was struggling more than others, so we did a lot of one on one.

The class divinely placed together, over half were Christian and the other half was beginning to see the fruits of Jesus. It felt peaceful and spirit filled when we were all together. On Fridays, we would have discussion groups and one girl began asking questions about why we in Cambodia, why we believed in God, why does God let bad things happen, why should people believe in God and Jesus? Andrea went through the questions and after class; we asked if she wanted to talk more. She simply stated that she was already a Christian but she wanted her friends and classmates to hear the truth.

Wow, she wasn’t afraid to look silly, or look vulnerable in front of the class, her motivation was simply to share the Lord with others. So sweet.

On the last day of class, we each shared a bit of our testimony, spoke into the class, and was able to answer any questions they had. The second class threw us a surprise gathering with fruits, coke, cookies, and gifts! It was such a nice surprise and it was the first time they had thrown their teachers a party. We felt special, but what was even more special was the fact that, each person was placed in that class for a reason, and they all were going to know Jesus, I believe they all felt the Holy Spirit that night.

Each kid will be missed greatly, and even though I should be used to saying goodbye after 7 other countries, this one had a bit more sting than usual. I HOPE YOU’RE READING THIS ENGLISH CLASS! WE LOVE AND MISS YOUALL VERY MUCH! JESUS LOVES YOU!
