This blog if for those who know me- although it can be appreciated by all! It’s especially surprising for my friends and family!
So I’ve been deemed a white African here in Kenya by my new friends. Heck yes! This is somewhat surprising because I’m the only girl out of five that does not have a weave in her hair right now! But we’ve had so much fun building relationships with each other- i LOVE this place!
If you thought you knew me this may change your mind! Here’s my reader friendly list for you of things that would never occur at home!
1. 1. I’ve literally de-meated a cow off of the bone with Carrie- picked bone fragments out of the meat and I saw joints, and only things a butcher should see! MmMmm
2. 2. I’ve cooked- enough said- I’ve used my stove at home (besides cookies) maybe twice
3. 3. I haven’t brushed my hair all month!
4. 4. I’m pretty sure I tried a piece of goat meat.
5. 5. I’ve showered twice this month
6. 6. I’ve showered in the place where I potty in the hole
7. 7. I’ve worn the same outfit for six days in a row
8. 8. I’m sleeping next to someone! Yay for Emily!
9. 9. I drink about three cups of Kenyan chai tea a day or drinking chocolate and regular soda
10.10. And last but not least-this one takes the cake- I (ME!) killed a chicken by sawing it’s head off with the same knife I cut tomatoes with. I had to stand on its wings and feet and pull the head toward me and saw it off! By far the worst experience of my life- but I’ve killed my own dinner! And yes I cried and yes there is a video of me screaming my fool head off ( I may have stepped off the feet by accident and had the chicken kicking blood on me and my friend Ashley Rose whoops!)
The lovely Emily Moss has compiled a video of this- will post the link as soon as the African internet will allow!
Thank you Lord for this opportunity! All my love! <3
