It’s amazing what God has done in our team in these few days. He has united us and helped us to be vulnerable with one another from the start. Some of our team members have such powerful stories about their pasts that it’s startling. My heart breaks to hear them share their lives, yet finds joy in the fact that they are here now–in this place, seeking out truth.

We have spent our days together in prayer, in worship, in teaching sessions where AIM staff have shared their wisdom on various topics (ie: listening prayer, brokenness, identity, etc.), doing team builders, debriefing them and the day, sharing in communion, blessing each other with words, and generally bonding. It has been a tremendous, yet exhausting time for me. Each day has felt like it’s own roller-coaster. I start off high and completely excited about the day to come. Throughout the day, as I observe interactions, I fluctuate between encouraged and sometimes discouraged. Then by the end of the day we have talked with AIM staff and been coached in how to handle some things, as well as come to a final debrief of the day with the team, and I feel like I end back at the top. It’s phenomenal.

This whole experience is challenging but so fulfilling for me. I get the chance to pour into the lives of twenty-two other people seeking out the Lord in their hearts. I get to share my knowledge from experience and learn from them in their own wisdom. I have been stretched and spurred on; broken and frustrated; at peace and fully alive. God is truly amazing, and is doing a mighty work in each of our lives. This team brings so much insight to the table and I have been incredibly blessed just in this short time with them. I cannot wait to see what our Father does in the next three months.

Please pray that our team members continue to open up their hearts; that they are able to share what is in the dark recesses. Pray that God gives me and my co-leaders (Adrienne and Driver) wisdom in each situation that arises. Pray that we set a precedent of quiet time with the Lord. Pray that our hearts are broken for one another and the Kenyans.  And please pray for safe traveling as we fly out tomorrow.
