The weekend after I came home from camp I visited a friend and went to her church. I was already on cloud 9 from being filled everyday for 10 days of training camp. Towards the end of camp they told us to be super cautions of attacks from the devil. That Sunday morning at church we sang “Surrounded (Fight My Battles)”. If you don’t know this song I HIGHLY suggest you listen to it. The songs says over and over again this is how I fight my battles. After worship was over the pastor of the church said the first time he listened to that song he was confused. The song never specifies how to fight your battles, he said that once he changed his heart and mind to a stance of worship it changed everything. WORSHIPING is how I fight my battles.
When things are hard the best thing to do is to focus on what’s good. There is nothing that is more GOOD than God. He is always good. He only knows good. Worshiping has found a whole new meaning in my life. Worship isn’t just something I get to do to tell the Lord how much I love him and want to praise him but it’s my weapon. Everyday we are faced with spiritual warfare and sometimes your only weapon is to worship him.
Worship also doesn’t just mean singing songs. Worship is looking to God and telling him how freaking amazing he is. It’s thanking him for all the good you have in your life. It’s casting all your anxiety and worries on him. It’s meditating in who he was, is, and yet to come. Worship is freeing yourself and giving everything you have to him. It’s laying down your life and your heart and desires and seeking him in full and letting him work in you because HE KNOWS BEST.
The Lord inhabits the praise of his people.
