December 5, 2014

Once again, sorry for not updating my blog more often! I want to start this out by saying a big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me pass my second financial deadline! I am now at $10,637 and only a few weeks until I depart to Thailand!

Many people have asked me to write out the next two deadlines, so here they are:

$11,000 due 4/1/2015 and $16,245 due 7/1/ 2015.

I have officially bought my ticket that will take me to San Francisco on December 31, and on July 1st my teammates and I will all board a plane to Thailand! It’s all becoming very real J.

I hesitated putting this blog up for a while, because I still haven’t figured out how to put a video on the blog. I hope it works this time!

As I’ve been researching the countries that we will go to, it seems like human trafficking/slavery is one of the predominant evil’s that we may face. I just got done reading a biography of William Wilberforce by Eric Metaxas, which is an exquisitely written book that shares not only about Wilberforce, but all the men and women who helped him legally end the African slave trade in Europe. I would recommend it to anyone! After finishing the book, I felt it was time to share something on the blog about slavery that exists now. Along with orphans, this is something that tears at my heart and I want so desperately to do something about it. I don’t really think that I can do it justice, so I am uploading a video on slavery, an edited version from the Passion Conference website www.268generation.com. The full version is free to download from their webpage.  I think it is very important to hear about slavery from those who were actually victims and survived.

I don’t know exactly what we will be doing when we get to these countries, especially with anti trafficking missions. Basically, we are there to serve whatever ministry, organization, or church that we are given over to. Maybe they need women to council and pray with other girls who are getting out of sex trafficking; maybe it is to teach or help train others for jobs; maybe we will simply serve them by cleaning or construction work. This isn’t including working at schools, orphanages, or health clinics. Also, when our team leaves, ANOTHER team will take our place. The ministry/church will be assisted until they no longer need or want further help. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Here is the video.  I hope it will work! 😉

God bless and thank you all for your support and prayer! It is much needed!
