At the beginning of this month, we were told a new racer would be joining our Fusion squad. Of course, our team began praying that the Lord would have her join our small group of girls….and our prayers came true! I even made her a sign to pick her up at the airport because I was so excited.
Her name is Evelyn. She is 31 years old and is from Indonesia. She will be with our team for this month in Malaysia and next month in Thailand. She worked in the marketing field for a few years in Singapore, has one younger brother and enjoys working out.
She learned about the World Race by watching a video a friend shared with her about missions abroad. She decided to join us for two months to experience a little of what walking by faith looks like, since Fusion is different than typical squads in that we don’t have ministry partnerships or anything set up for us beforehand.
Evelyn loves to meet new people, explore cities and translate menu items for her teammates when we are too scared to play “eenie meenie miney mo” and randomly choose foods that we can’t pronounce. Thankfully, she is really good at translating languages – she knows English, Indonesian, and some Chinese.
One of the dreams for her future is to buy an island and to have a resort, or a big house, to provide a home for people who need help and provide them with vocational training and job skills. We love her so much already! Be sure to check out her blog as well to the left.
Oh, and our team name has gone from Deep to Deeper!
