This post is dedicated to answering the many “Whys” I have been asked in regards to going on the World Race! Let’s make is fun and go interview style….
Anonymous A: “Why are you going on this trip known as the World Race?”
Tori: Smile. Pause. Collect my heart which is so excitedly beating out of my chest. Because I believe in being brave and living extraordinary for Jesus. I want to be a part of the nations and more importantly be an ambassador of love; both learning and growing. Because there is something that happens when you step out for Jesus, He molds you and He molds those around you. Because the nations have a special place in my heart and I can’t imagine a better way to start my life, literally days after graduation. I hear the whisper and the whisper calls me out into the waves!
Anonymous B:”Why don’t you just want to start making money and teaching and living?”
Tori: I am living. I am living the calling He has for me. I don’t want to simply settle into what’s comfortable when I know He is calling me to His heart and to grow. I know it’s scary to defer loans even more and to travel to places I have never been, but I have Jesus, my WR squad and His Spirit to encourage me. It’s more scary to know you were called to the field and not go and live with that regret than to settle into what’s comfy. Living will always come from following Jesus and what a better way to be a disciple than following Him to the nations.
Anonymous C: Why do you think God will help you raise $16,500 basically?
Tori: Because my God is faithful. He will not call me out where He will not provide. Because He loves me and He is rooting for me. Because money is infinitely smaller than His greatness. Because fundraising this amount of money, although a huge sum to us human, is a way for us to learn to see and trust His power and goodness in our lives. Because He gave His Son up for us, and He is not holding back any good thing from me. Because this process is bringing me closer to His heart.
Anonymous D: “Why do you want to go and serve/love/and help the people of other countries, when there are people right here that need help?”
Tori: This is a question I get asked a lot, especially as I have done several mission trips internationally. The answer remains the same, because He calls my heart to those places. I do my best to serve daily while I am home in the US, but He calls me out into the sea and among the waves to the shores of more of His people. I love loving and the world needs the love of Jesus; to bring hope, life, and more awakeness to their souls. Many of my friends are ministers here in the US, that’s where they are called. One month I will be in the United States as well, oh boy does the US definitely need a heavy dose of Jesus! We are called to be selfless and love and leave our comfort zones, for me that’s to the nations; for others it’s different states, cities, jobs, and all sorts of things but when God is guiding you, His light is where you need to be, otherwise all other places feel like darkness in comparison to where He has you!
These are just a few of the WHYs I have been asked. WHYS are good- they yield answers and curiosity. Whys brought people to Jesus. WHYS are welcome here!
