We all go through storms during our lives, trials, temptations, and hard times. Teachings that all make us who are are today. The bible promises we will go through storms in our lives; we live in a fallen world. Death, sickness, brokenness, greed and many things we do not understand. Another thing that God promises in his word is during these storms He will be with us. “There will be a booth for shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.” Isaiah 4:6

The Lord is faithful (He will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself. 2 Timothy 2:13) and compassionate on us, therefore, we do not have to go through these storms alone.

One of the girls on my team always reiterates that our circumstances do not determine God’s goodness. He is good no matter what we are going through, he is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is our refuge in times of trouble. He is outside of time and is Omni-present; meaning He is God everywhere at the same time. He is always with us, closer than our breath, ready to take on the world with us.

It’s up to us if we let him.

Half way through writing this blog I received a message that my dear aunt passed away. Her death was shocking, unexplainable and another death in the family since I left for the world race. I didn't expect people that I left at home to not be there when I returned. She was a person whom I loved and cherished for her sense of humor with the ability to brighten anyone's day. God instantly tested my Faith that He is good no matter what the circumstances. His plan is higher and greater than mine, He can still be trusted and is still the mighty God I continue to fall in love with.

The many things that happen in our lives that we do not understand seem unbarring at times. We can’t wrap our minds around why they happen, the next step we are going to take or how we are going to get through such things. God knows how we are feeling, Christ came to this earth feeling everything we feel, going through everything we go through so we are not alone. We do not have a God that can not sympathize with us. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15

Finding rest in his presence brings peace that can be as unexplainable as what we may be going through. God is fulfilling his promise of comforting us and giving his peace that things are going to aright. He freely gives us strength and vision to those who trust in him and sheds light on the darkest days. As we fix our eyes on him, we are rewarded with overwhelming peace in the midst of a storm.
