Okay, so God is the real definition of a love bug. We use it as a joking term but for real, God’s love is bigger and better than anything else, and the best part? God loves me. God of the universe love me! Why can I not seem to get that through my head? I re-read the crucifixion in the book of Matthew and my heart severely ached how peopled mocked Jesus, beat him and twisted a crown of thorns on his head all for my sake. The God of all creation turned his head from his only son Jesus when he said “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” in Matthew 27:46. God turned away from his own son because he was so filthy with the world’s sin just so we could be re-united with him in heaven and eternally saved from being condemned to Hell. Now if that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.
Jesus not only died on the cross so that I could spend eternity with him in complete perfectness, but he died so I can start living that life now. I was saved to a life of Holiness, righteousness, sanctification, blamelessness, and purity because my sins are forgiven by his grace and I am no longer held accountable for the wrong I have done in my life. Again, a love that does not make sense but I am so thankful for. I can have true freedom because I am no longer burdened by my guilts. The good shepherd Jesus I owe my life to (My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. Matthew 10:27-28) and desire to fix my eyes on him so I can dwell in his presence and understand his will for my life more and more. My dependence on him is the best choice I can make throughout the day through humbling myself as he humbled himself by coming to earth not to be served but to serve. Everyday I have to choose to follow Jesus.
One thing I am learning as a Christian, you constantly have to keep your head in the game of putting Jesus first, seeking his understanding before your own and filling yourself up with things that bring life. It is so good and so worth it! Listening to God filled music, keeping your eyes on the Lord and hanging out with the right people all help of putting him first above yourself. Things of this world might not directly effect your with Jesus (although often times they do even if we don’t realize it) but things of this world do not bring God glory nor do they build you up. It’s important to keep moving towards Christ likeness everyday with reading the word, memorizing verses and training your brain to be dependent on him for your every move. The rewards are astounding. God’s love fills you up in everything you do and once you’ve experienced it, you won’t go back to any other way.
The song “Your love is better” by Will Reagan & United Pursuit describes a relationship with Jesus perfectly.
“Your love is better than anything this world has to offer. All my walls and my defenses fall to the ground. His love is better than anything the world can give.”
