What a journey it has been! These last five years in Dallas have truly been the most life changing I’ve ever experienced. The best way that I can describe this season of my life is a time of preparation. God has been breaking me, opening me, stretching me, healing me, showing me what love looks like, what freedom looks like, what faith looks like, what the abundant life looks like. It’s been amazing and hard…and beautiful! He’s been so intentional in guiding my steps to this exact crossroad, at this exact time – having prepared me for the amazing adventure that awaits me…The World Race!
In January 2009, I will begin an 11 month journey that will take me to 11 different countries, spanning 4 continents! In each location, we will partner with existing ministries and organizations already pouring out the love of Christ within that country. We will have the opportunity to love the unloved, feed the hungry, share hope with the lost, work shoulder to shoulder with the forgotten of society. To live as Jesus lived, love as He loved – to be His hands and feet to a world that is desperate for Him! Not only will we have endless ministry opportunities, Adventures in Missions (sending organization), is committed to help us grow and be challenged and stretched throughout this year. They will actually fly in coaches and teachers to each of our destinations – to train, to listen, to equip, and to encourage – to truly disciple us every step of the way.
Will you consider partnering with me in this journey? More than anything else, I will desperately need a team of people who will wrestle in prayer for me and my team throughout this entire year. Prayerfully consider if the Lord may lead you to commit to be a consistent prayer warrior on my behalf. Secondly, I must raise $14,000 to go on The World Race – covering travel, lodging, and food costs. If you choose to give monthly, you can start and stop your donations whenever you’d like. Truly every dollar helps! For instance, 15 people giving $50 a month for 11 months, would put me over half way to my goal!
It’s an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to go and serve! I look forward to the challenges and blessings that await me. I’m ready to be immersed outside of my comfort zone, in a place of total dependency on the Lord. I want to be stretched, to grow beyond my weaknesses. I want to be an empty but willing vessel completely surrendered to Him. I want to feel my heart break for the things that break God’s. I want to cry for and genuinely love “the least of these”. I want to learn how to joyfully bend a knee and serve my brothers and sisters. I want to see the reality of the condition of the world without Jesus. I want to see the unfathomable power and goodness of God displayed in and through me to impact the world for His Kingdom. That’s my prayer for this journey! Will you join me?
