I’m so thankful to be an American. I am thankful that I can freely worship God and openly proclaim the Gospel. I am thankful that I can say what’s on my mind. I am thankful for those who have lost their lives in order to make that possible. Thank you.
I’m thankful for the abundant amount of freedoms that I have as an American. Through this blog I get to exercise my freedom of speech. I get to voice my concerns with the current state of America. My biggest concern being the constant push for more freedoms. How far will our freedoms extend at the expense of our morals?
Freedom is a biblical principle. Our freedom from sin comes through our faith that by Jesus's death and resurrection we are forgiven of our evil desires of the world. God’s wrath was poured out onto him. Through his sacrifice, we are seen as righteous in God’s eyes. America as a whole doesn’t exercise that freedom enough. We the people are caught up in our evil worldly desires. We the people hide behind “good” deeds to make us look like good people. We the people have become complacent to moral issues.
Our nation is based on the democratic principle that the voice of the people will be heard. My concern isn’t in that fact. It’s in what that voice is saying. A recent example of the power behind the people is President Obama’s switch to supporting same-sex marriage. I don’t honestly believe that he accepts same-sex marriage. I believe that the pressure of the people caused him to change his views. He turned away from his own personal conviction and played into public conscious.
Don’t take me the wrong way. I am in no way condemning or judging those who practice homosexuality. That’s not Christ-like and not my place to do. What I desire is for you to look at what we are accepting these days. What controls our acceptance of certain issues? Is it our fear that we are offending someone? Is it that we so desperately want peace that we’re willing to sacrifice our values to make people feel happy?
America, how long are we going to allow people to live in lies? If their voice is loud enough, are we going to lower the age of consenting adults to appease the people? How long are we going to let the desires of this world win over our morals and values?
C’mon America. Be Bold. Be Different. Fight for Honour. Fight for Respect. Fight for Integrity.
Much Love.
