Life in Cambodia has been great! I really enjoy the people here. They are so loving and caring and willing to help however they can. That seems to be the theme so far around the world. I have really been impressed by how I have been treated so well.
Which reminds me of the States. While on the World Race, I have had a tendency to compare what I am experiencing to what I know in the US. Sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad.
Let me explain. One time I saw how the locals in a country washed clothes and I thought, “thank You, Lord, that I have a washing machine at home that I can use and a dryer.” Many times stains do not come out so well here and it is nice to have the convenience of home. And yet, it is not entirely bad how things are done here. As a matter of fact, it can be so simplistic that I am embarrassed that I do not know how to do that as well as the locals.
At times, that makes me upset that I have it easy in America, and then I get down on being American. Recently I have been trying to catch myself in this mindset and realize that the Lord allowed me to be American. That it is a good thing, and that He has sent me around the world to learn more about others and myself. And that we are all His children. It does not matter much if I can use a machete to build something, or wash my clothes in a tub, or even have the conveniences of home. But that I am His and need to be obedient to what He has for me….learning to love Him and share that love.
Well enough thoughts. Just want to share a few pictures of what we are doing here. Mainly we are teaching English and helping with construction of a home for orphans called the Mercy Home. Check it out below.
