Dear Friends, Family, and Random Blog Stalkers,

It's the post I know you've all been waiting for and the one I just couldn't wait to write: the one where I ask for your money!

Obviously, one of the biggest challenges of doing The World Race is raising the money to go. For my trip, I need to raise $15,500. I know that's a lot of money, especially with the economy the way it is and has been for the last several years. But consider this, if 150 people commit to give $10 per month for 10 months I would have raised $15,000. If that same amount of people commit to giving that amount for 12 months, I would have more than I need! Now $10 a month doesn't seem so bad, does it? It costs me that much to eat at just about any restaurant not called McDonald's.

So I am asking that each of you who are able to please consider supporting me in any way you can, whether it is more or less than $10. That was just an arbitrary round number I chose. Whether you're able to give $10 or $10,000, every bit of it matters. Remember you aren't giving money to me, you're giving money to God to invest in eternity. As I go, you will go with me. Your money will enable myself and my squad to tell the depressed man in Ireland contemplating suicide, the orphan with HIV in Swaziland, the Hindu man in Nepal, and the human trafficking victim in Cambodia that there is a God that loves them and wants a relationship with them. You may never meet them in this life. I may not even be there when they finally come to know Christ. But that seed is going to get planted and God is going to work through your generosity. And imagine what it will be like in Heaven when the people that heard about God because you were willing to give your hard-earned money to a broke college kid to travel the world and tell people about Jesus come to greet you.

We are blessed to live in the country we live in and have the money and opportunities we have. And I'd like to challenge you with a quote I recently read by John Piper in a book called “Finish the Mission.” The quote is:

“God gives his people material wealth for the sake of the world’s
spiritual worship. That is, he blesses his church with riches
for the sake of reaching the nations. He gives a bountiful wheat harvest
for the sake of a bountiful world harvest.”

What Piper is saying is that we aren't given wealth by God to buy ourselves more and more stuff. We are given wealth by God so that we can reach the world for Him. So please consider using some of the wealth God has blessed you with to bless the people of the world.

To donate (all donations are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE), click on the “Support Me!” link on the left side of the page under my picture. It will take you to the online donation site. There you can enter the amount you want to donate and then choose whether the gift will be one-time or monthly. You can set the end date of your monthly donation as well. I believe the default end date is one year from the day of the initial donation. You can also donate by mail by sending a check made out to “Adventures in Missions” and “For Todd Lee” in the memo line to:

Also, I realize that there will be those that are simply not able to support me financially. That is perfectly fine! I still want you to go along on this journey with me! All you have to do is commit to pray for me and the work that will be done on the trip! I will covet each and every prayer and encouraging word that you offer!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post!

In Christ,

Todd
