In Peru, I read through Job. This is what I learned:

Good things don’t always happen to good people, and bad things don’t always happen to bad people. Because if that were true, then that would mean we could earn our way to Heaven. It would mean that everything depended on ourselves and our own actions. And that’s not true. It is not what we do or what we don’t do. Our work, our good deeds mean nothing, if we don’t have Christ. It is all about Christ and what He does and how He works through us. Ultimately, He is in control.

Just because a person does good things doesn’t mean they are exempt from bad things happening to them. It doesn’t work like that. Yes, God does want to bless His children. But the truth is, there is sin in the world, and we as God’s children have free will. When we ask why God? Why? And think we have done good things, so why is this happening? It’s not because we’re being punished or that we are wicked. A lot of times bad things do happen to good people. But it is during this trial where our faith is strengthened and trust comes in. Trusting in Him and knowing that He has a plan and a purpose for everything. It is not my first instinct, but I am starting to learn more and more that God is a good God, and He is a Father who loves us, and we can definitely trust Him with our life. He is probably the only one whom we can really, truly, and totally trust with our life.

So, in short, none if it is important unless we are working for The Lord. But ultimately we need to trust that He is God, instead of trusting in the blessings we receive when we follow him.

And my prayer is just that. That I wouldn’t love God, because of the blessings I receive from Him, but that I would just love Him, no strings attached.

Until the next adventure,
