Just a few of my favorite things. that i have been thankful to have with me on the race.

  • Waterbottle (you will need to drink a lot of water on the race! There is filtered water or bottled water everywhere you will go and your team is given an emergency filter as well.)
  •  Kindle- with study bible , and any other books you want. (you will have a lot of down time to read, so stock up on some books)
  •  Travel pillow (with pillow cover, I didn’t have a pillow cover but I wish I did) Thermarest was the brand I used.
  • Sleeping bag liner (also great for covering your sleeping mat in hotter countries)
  • Breathable Rain jacket (great for rain or when it’s cold)
  •  Watch (sometimes you won’t have your phone on you… and it’s good to know the time/date especially with all the time traveling you do on this trip.)
  •  Sarong (I used mine as a towel, blanket, skirt, swimsuit cover for off days, wall to change behind, or use the bathroom it in locations there are no walls. It just very useful, and dries faster than quick dry towels.)  Thank you Kacee Weber for giving me the sarong to use this year! its been great!

  •  External hard drive. You will get lots of movies and music from other people on your squad be prepared with a large amount of space on the hard drive. (I brought a 1 terabyte and it’s full, but I take raw photos with my camera as well as HD video.
  •  Ear plugs and an eye mask (I used my fabric headband for the last few months of the race, some people use bandanas, others had the expensive, luxury eye masks, all are “same same but different”)
  •  Baby wipes- (good for quick showers, on travel days and bathroom runs where there is no toilet paper (very common around the world, so you don’t need to pack a lot, you can find them almost everywhere)
  • A pack with Wheels: I didn’t have this for my race, but after being on the race I would totally get a pack with wheels, you don’t carry your pack as much as you think you do… so save your back and bring a pack with wheels. But also make sure it has straps just in case you get one of those off the path locations, they do happen,
  •  my sleeping pad- doesn’t matter what sleeping pad you get just make sure it good for you… I used the Exped brand and it was perfect for me.

  •  one last item, that was a luxury item for me was my crazy creek chair. ( it was great to have, I used it as a work out mat and it’s an amazing traveling lazy boy. And everyone loved to used it) HEX 2.0 PowerLounger

Don’t stress about what to wear or bring for clothes, You will most likely buy clothes in each country for cheep. Well at least most of the girls on my squad did. and or you will get new clothes via the free pile at the end of each month.

Bring one pair of jeans!!! you will thank me later for this!
