I don’t know her whole story but there are a few things I know about her.
- She is sweet all the time
- She makes amazing food for us to eat for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
- She loves to talk with all of us girls in Russian, even though we have no idea what she is saying.
- She loves to joke around.
- She always has a smile (which around tranistrian culture is not common)
- She Loves Jesus.
- She loves to serve Jesus by serving us.
One night I had the honor of getting to serve with her and truly see her in action.
God really has blessed this sweet woman with an amazing ability to cook. It comes so easy to her as she glides around the kitchen prepping the food, to make a meal for 21 people. As I sit there and prep food with her, she realized that there was not going to be enough food left for all 21 of the girls.
But I did not see a bit of panic from her, just a little joke and laughing as she shook her finger at the table where the men were just eating, to show that it must have been them who ate too much, we both started to laugh. Then she said, “Macaroni” I nodded my head in agreement that we would now make macaroni to go with our sweet crape like meal. I spent the next 15 minutes splitting up the crapes to serve to the girls and after that we realized we were short one more plate we only had 20 plates out and needed 21. We laugh again and in Russian and hand gestures she told me to take the knife and cut little off each one and put it on a plate to make the last meal. I left the kitchen as “grandma” continued to finish cooking the macaroni and I felt full of complete joy.
But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. –Galations 5:22-25
She did not have to work at filling the room with Joy because it just radiates from her soul because she has the holy spirit living in her. She truly lives by the Spirit and is a true inspiration to me and so many of the girls.
