It seems as though our time in Africa has gone by in the blink of an eye. Nonetheless, our final country in Africa was the tiny kingdom of Swaziland. We will forever remember the smiling children and blazing sunsets of Swazi. This country was one of great suffering and great hope. Our ministry was divided between two main tasks.

Our primary ministry was helping our contact with carepoints around the rural areas of Nsoko, Swaziland. At these carepoints, children came every day to get a meal of beans and rice. In addition to a meal, they also received a Bible story, games and the love of believers. Hannah and I participated in carepoints for both older children and carepoints for pre-school children. This ministry was heartbreaking, but extremely rewarding. Hannah aptly named the children the “lost children.” Many have been orphaned by AIDS and have little to no parental supervision. Often times, the carepoints provide the only food the children get every day. Despite these conditions, the children were happy and full of life.

Our secondary ministry was providing manual labor at our ministry site called the Anchor Center. We did things such as cutting grass, fixing plumbing, woodworking and gardening. The Center has limited staff and our sweat was much appreciated to get the Center looking good.

As the wheels of the airplane lifted off of Africa soil, Hannah and I both felt a loss and an immediate longing to return. We look forward to coming back to Africa on other trips and hopefully will bring some of you along to experience this amazing continent. Below is a video of our month. We love you and can't wait to see you in a few months.
